The First Walk & Talk

We did the first WALK & TALK on Hampstead Heath today. After three consecutive bright, crisp, sunny days, I woke up this morning to grey, dank, drizzle, not the most inviting weather to inaugurate my new project. Still, I’m no fair weather walker, so I dug out my waterproofs and headed off for Kenwood House at 8.30am with excitement and anticipation.

We were a small, but perfectly formed group today. As we walked, we talked about health. That was the topic for today. What does ‘being healthy’ mean to us? How do we know if we’re healthy? What do we do to be healthy? How do we move? Eat? It was a fascinating conversation. We walked at an invigorating pace - not competitively fast, just brisk and steady. I loved every minute. I love the smell of the earth, the majesty of the trees, that spaciousness which, living in London, isn’t part of my every day life. I enjoyed the company and by the time we’d come full circle and were back at our starting point I felt energised, strong and happy.

I can’t wait to do it again next week and the week after, and the week after that… Walking & Talking ticks every box for me. I get to move in a way I love, in good company, in a beautiful setting. If you live anywhere near Hampstead Heath come and join us next week at 8.45am. See you there!

  1. I think that sounds really fantastic - a great way to get some exercise and have some fun/support/share ideas.
I will look out for any walks like this in south London.

  2. One of our Fairies in South London might be keen to start a local Walk & Talk group if they know there will be demand. I will ask them and keep you posted.

  5. It is surprising how much people open up when they walk and I feel less pressure talking when I'm walking. I will definitely be up for setting up a walk and talk when I graduate as a Chocolate Fairy
