I knew they were going to weigh me, and I thought I was prepared for the inevitable “You could do with losing a little weight” standard comment from the nurse, but I wasn’t prepared for the uncharacteristic ‘wobble’ I felt afterward.
On the way home, I mused to my husband, “Perhaps I should go back to dieting”. I was shocked by his reaction. He practically begged me not to. “What do you want to do that for? You look great, you’re fit and healthy, and you’ll only make yourself miserable.” I sometimes forget the hell that I put my family through back in the past. I spent years trying every diet going, each one was going to be ‘the one’ that would help me lose weight and – somehow magically – keep it off! They never worked and I was miserable. I've been a Chocolate Fairy for 2 years now and I know that he has enjoyed my renewed confidence which has reflected in my wardrobe, my relaxed attitude at mealtimes and curvy figure.
I don’t have any of the conditions they were testing for. I'm not surprised. I eat whatever I want, I have a healthy diet and I go running at least 3 times a week. Weight alone is no indicator of fitness, so I think I’ll just carry on as I am. Fit, happy and healthy!

Thankyou Nancy! I am a fat person who trains 6 hrs a week in my favourite martial art, puts in several hours of yoga and running twice a week. Despite this my GP/ equally chubby practice nurse have only one answer to every health issue-'lose weight'! From tonsillitis to sports injuries...fed up...used to do exercise for weight loss and ended up miserable, self conscious and comfort eating. Oh and kudos to you partner- what a fab supportive answer!
